Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante could reportedly miss a crucial part of the season after suffering an abductor injury.
The France international hobbled off in the Blues’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Monday night.
And according to French outlet L’Equipe, the 28-year-old has suffered a ‘Grade 2’ tear and could be out for three weeks.
This means Kante is set to miss the hugely important clashes against Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was pessimistic about Kante’s injury following his side’s loss to the Red Devils.
“It doesn’t look great at the minute,” he said.
“I don’t know that yet for sure. I wouldn’t want to give you that information. I know it’s the same leg, so it’s similar.”
Kante, who has won a league title, FA Cup and Europa League crown with the club, has managed just 17 appearances in all competitions for his club so far this season, missing nine league outings for various issues.
He has been one of Chelsea’s best players since his £30million move from Leicester in 2016.
