The 22-year-old Belgian star impressed during a six-month loan spell at Leicester this season
Manchester United have revived their interest in Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, as they continue to look for potential replacements for Paul Pogba.
Pogba is reportedly keen to leave Old Trafford this summer, with Real Madrid keen, and although United are adamant he is not for sale they are thought to be looking at possible alternatives.
One such player is Tielemans, who showed he has what it takes to star in the Premier League during his loan spell at Leicester City last season.
The 22-year-old Belgian joined the Foxes in January and made 13 appearances in the Premier League, scoring three goals and assisting five.
Leicester are keen to bring the talented youngster back to the King Power Stadium permanently this summer, but United also made contact with Monaco at the end of the season, with both clubs quoted £40million.
And now, according to respected Belgian journalist Kristoff Terreur, the Red Devils have returned and have opened talks with Tielemans’ agent over a possible deal.
United’s spending power would give them the advantage over Leicester in the race for the talented midfielder.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be a big fan as the manager aims to revamp his side this summer, which could include finding a quality replacement for Pogba.
The World Cup winner wants to leave Old Trafford and link up with France legend Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, with Zidane telling club officials to do whatever is necessary to bring Pogba to the Bernabeu.
United have reportedly put a £150m price tag on the midfielder. If Real decide to pay up, it would give Solskjaer enough funds to make three or four quality signings, with Tielemans a likely option.
