The Frenchman has been included in the Red Devils’ pre-season squad despite admitting he wants a ‘new challenge’
Juventus are preparing a £120million bid for wantaway Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, reports claim.
Pogba, who admitted last month that he wants to pursue a ‘new challenge’, has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid or a return to his former club, Juventus.
Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici is a big fan of the enigmatic Frenchman, who spent four seasons at the club before leaving to move back to United in 2016.
And, according to The Times, the Italian champions are readying a huge £120m bid to bring him back to Turin.
Manchester United chiefs are said to be determined to keep Pogba at Old Trafford this summer, given his global profile and role in the club’s marketing machine.
However, it is also claimed they will consider selling if the price is right.
Meanwhile, top journalist Neil Custis believes Pogba ‘will not be a big loss’ if he is sold by the club this summer.
Speaking to talkSPORT on Monday, The Sun’s Manchester United correspondent said the midfielder will ‘go down as the most disliked United player of all time’ and has branded his behaviour a ‘disgrace’ as he plots a move away from Old Trafford.
“Pogba and his agent have engineered a situation where it simply just can’t go on,” he said.
“Come the start of next season, if he’s in a Manchester United shirt, he’s going to be booed every time he touches the ball – and that’s by the home fans!
“I think they need to get rid now and that money should be reinvested in players who actually want to play for the club and who have got a bit of hunger about them.
“If you lose Paul Pogba, what are you losing? You’re not losing Paul Scholes or Roy Keane at their height, you’re not losing a game changer, you’re not losing a massive influence on the team – you’re losing a very, very average player.
“I don’t think it’s a big loss. It’s not like when Ruud van Nistelrooy or David Beckham left.”
The World Cup winner has been included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pre-season squad, as United head to Australia as they take on Perth Glory next Saturday before meeting rivals Leeds United Down Under on Wednesday, July 17.
United have been busy in the summer transfer window, having captured Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Swansea and Crystal Palace respectively.
