The Brazilian became the world’s most expensive player when he joined PSG in a deal worth £198million
Neymar is tired of Paris Saint-Germain’s inability to succeed in Europe and wants to return to Barcelona, reports claim.
The world’s most expensive player, having cost PSG £198m in August 2017, has been plagued with injuries during his time in France.
The 27-year-old forward most recently suffered ankle ligament damage in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Qatar which rules him out this summer’s Copa America.
Furthermore, Neymar was earlier this season slapped with a three-game ban for hitting a fan after PSG’s shock French Cup final defeat by Rennes, which saw him stripped of the Brazil captaincy.
In his two seasons with PSG, Neymar has won Ligue 1 twice, but the French outfit have failed to have an impact in the Champions League despite dominating domestically.
According to Sport, Neymar is now unmotivated in Paris and is starting to regret leaving Barcelona, where he formed a potent attack alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The former Santos man is ‘tired of the European failures of PSG’ and ‘understands he must return to a better league to continue his sports career’, the report claims.
He also believes he has been targeted by opposition players, which has caused him to suffer more frequent injuries.
Neymar is said to have asked to leave as early as last summer, but a move elsewhere was denied by PSG.
