Chelsea return to Premier League action on Sunday as they face Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Frank Lampard’s side have nine games to secure a Champions League place for next season and currently sit in fourth.
The suspension of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic has certainly helped the Blues get a number of players back to full fitness.
Jorginho is the only player who will certainly miss the match at Villa Park as the midfielder is serving the second, and final, game of his suspension.
There are also question marks surrounding the fitness of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James.
Hudson-Odoi missed their in-house friendly against Reading with Lampard admitting he is fit but not match fit, while James suffered a knock in training.
Both could still be in the new enlarged matchday squads and Lampard revealed ahead of the match that Hudson-Odoi was not match fit.
Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham were all struggling with injuries before the coronavirus pandemic called a halt to the season but all four are likely to be in contention and will at least be in the Chelsea squad.
N’Golo Kante initially did not train when the players returned due to COVID-19 fears but it is believed he will be back up to speed and ready to start against Villa.
Jason Cundy believes Chelsea are 18 months away from challenging Man City and Liverpool
Pedro and Willian are both out of contract at the end of the season and have not been offered short-term extensions. With the players possibly leaving in a couple of months it could well mean they have played their last games for Chelsea.
Lampard has plenty of strength in depth to choose from with Billy Gilmour impressing in the games leading up to the break in the season while Ross Barkley was also enjoying an extended run in the side.
If Pedro and Willian do not play then Lampard will have a decision to make on who plays wide on the right. Pulisic has featured there a couple of times this season and has done well.
The pair will also want to try and impress the boss ahead of Hakim Ziyech’s arrival in the summer while the Blues have also been linked with Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen.
Abraham will likely feature as the central striker and he has plenty to play for as well with the club announcing the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig this week.
How talkSPORT.com think Chelsea should look against Aston Villa…
Aston Villa were very fortunate to get a point from their match against Sheffield United on Wednesday.
Replays showed the ball had clearly crossed the line after a goalkeeping clanger but an error with goal-line technology meant it was not given.
It was still an important point for Dean Smith’s relegation-threatened side, who closed the gap on the three sides above them to just one point. Results on Saturday mean Villa are just a point off safety.
Three games in the space of four days means Smith may rotate some players.
John McGinn returned after a long injury absence and played 76 minutes against the Blades and will depend on his fitness levels as to whether he starts against Chelsea. If he is fit then he should play.
Keinan Davis started up front but failed to get on the scoresheet and it may mean Mbwana Samatta gets his chance.
In goal, Orjan Nyland kept a clean sheet, just about, and should retain his place ahead of veteran Pepe Reina.
Right-back Frederic Guilbert could be involved after a knee injury but Bjorn Engels remains out, while Blues loanee Danny Drinkwater is ineligible to face his parent club.
