Mwikuta is the first of Alabama’s seven scholarship players who entered the transfer portal this week to announce his new school. Mwikuta will play for second-year Red Wolves coach Butch Jones, who served as an analyst and a special assistant to coach Nick Saban from 2018-20.

Mwikuta is the third former Alabama player to transfer to a Group of 5 school in recent weeks. Wide receiver Xavier Williams chose Utah State, while linebacker Jackson Bratton transferred to UAB.

Mwikuta, one of five Alabama linebackers to enter the portal recently, played mostly special teams the past three seasons in Tuscaloosa. He also entered the portal last summer before choosing to remain with the team.
