Hey this winning thing is pretty nice! The Atlanta Braves exploded for nine runs in support of a good performance by Max Fried in a 9-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. It was the second straight win for the Braves who improve to 32-35 on the season. Ozzie Albies finished a triple shy of the cycle while Max Fried allowed two hits and one run over seven strong innings. Atlanta will try to secure a series win Saturday.

- Shohei Ohtani announced Friday that he will participate in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby at Coors Field on July 12 as part of the All-Star Game festivities.
- Mets starter Jacob deGrom spoke to the media Friday and said that he thinks the shoulder issue that knocked him out of his last start after just three innings was a result of a swing and miss when he was at the plate in the second. deGrom described the issue as a similar feeling to how his shoulder feels after starts, just this time it came during the game. He is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday and the team is taking a day-to-day approach with his status.
- Veteran reliever Anthony Swarzak is back in the majors after the Royals selected his contract Friday afternoon. Swarzak began the season with the Diamondbacks but struggled allowing five runs in just 4 2/3 innings.
- The Baltimore Orioles designated former top catching prospect Chance Sisco for assignment Friday and placed left hander Bruce Zimmermann on the 10-day injured list.
