Billy Joe Saunders has apologised after making a video in which he gave mock instructions for men on how to hit their female partners.

The WBO super-middleweight champion is no stranger to controversy and just last week produced an apology for laughing over a suspected coronavirus situation involving one of his friends.

In the video, Saunders stands in front of a heavy bag and demonstrates techniques for abuse.

He says: “Just wanna make a little video, just for all you dads, husbands.

“You’ve got your girlfriends, etc. Obviously this COVID-19’s been very serious and we’re isolated away in very tight spaces.

“So if your old woman’s giving you a little bit of mouth and you try to patient, you try to be calm, cool, but after the sixth day you’re just about to explode.

“All of a sudden she’s coming at you, spitting a bit of venom in your face, ready to say something, I don’t know what you’ve done, but you’ve upset her.

“So as she comes in, you’ve lost it, just keep it safe with the hands.”

Saunders then shows a right hand ‘on the chin’ and a left hook to ‘finish her off’.

Although it is clear that the 30-year-old made the video as a joke, the subject matter has still attracted a strong negative response.

As a result, Saunders later said on social media: “I would never condone domestic violence.

“And if I saw a man touch a woman I would smash him to pieces myself.

“I have a daughter and if a man laid a finger on her it would [not] end well.

“Apologies if I offended any women stay blessed.”
