Brentford beat Fulham 2-0 thanks to two late goals on Saturday – and they did it without Bryan Mbeumo after he tested positive for coronavirus.
Bees boss Thomas Frank said the forward had shown no symptoms prior to the first second-tier game since the lockdown.
“It is a positive test for Bryan, the main reason we didn’t tell everyone is he would have most likely started today if he was negative,” Frank told Sky Sports.
“No symptoms, fit and well, so unfortunately he of course needs to isolate just to keep everything into the right place for a safe environment.
“The good thing is our training ground is the safest place to be, because at the next test everyone was negative.
“It’s just unfortunate, but that’s the way it is.”
Ahead of kick-off at Craven Cottage, all present took a knee as part of the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement.
Emiliano Marcondes laid on a tap-in for Said Benrahma and lashed home a goal for himself as Brentford’s late double stunned Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage.
Super sub Marcondes climbed off the bench on the Championship’s resumption, first teeing up Benrahma before lashing home a fine strike of his own.
Brentford are now just one point adrift of Fulham in fourth place in the Championship.
