Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti was sent off AFTER the full-time whistle was blown on Sunday’s Premier League clash vs Manchester United.

The Toffees boss was angry having seen his side denied an injury time winner after a VAR review, and he confronted referee Chris Kavanagh to vent his frustrations.

As a result, he was shown a red card and ordered off the pitch – even though the match was already over!

There is literally no reason why Everton should not be where Liverpool are, says Adrian Durham

The video assistant referee incident occurred minutes before full-time, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin firing into the back of the net via a deflection off Harry Maguire.

The ball rolled past Gylfi Sigurdsson to reach the goal, and though he was in an offside position lying on the floor, the Iceland midfielder moved his feet out the way and did not actually touch the ball.

But VAR adjudged Sigurdsson was blocking David de Gea’s line of sight and decided to rule the goal out. As a result, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

And Ancelotti marched up to the officials post-game and made his feelings known – though we cannot know what was said to earn a dismissal.

Television footage showed Calvert-Lewin, who scored Everton’s opener via a huge De Gea error, watching the VAR replays post-game, and he spoke shortly after.

The striker told Sky Sports: “In the moment I wasn’t sure [it was a goal], but looking back Gylfi was on the floor but not blocking the keeper’s line of sight.

“For me, being a striker, it is a goal.

“But VAR says otherwise and cancels it out.”
