Everyone wants to know about five-star cornerback Domani Jackson and whether he’s going to make the flip from USC to Michigan. Our EJ Holland has been all over this one.

“To keep it real, it really got me thinking,” Jackson said after attending U-M’s game with Washington. I wouldn’t count Michigan out. I’ll say that.”

Jackson’s parents, who are originally from Ohio, also enjoyed the trip.

“My mom grew up an Ohio State fan and hated Michigan,” Jackson said. “As soon as we got there, she fell in love with Michigan. It’s always a plus when your mom falls in love with a school. My dad [who grew up a Michigan fan] was like a little kid in a candy store. He was all smiles.”

But there are a few hurdles still to clear here, including one that’s been a sticking point with other recruits. We don’t doubt that Jackson is serious about Michigan, though, and EJ will continue to monitor this one closely.

When it comes to recruiting, both the football and basketball programs have a lot of momentum. A big reason for that, according to some of our Michigan sources, is the willingness of the two programs to work together, probably better than they ever have.

Many football recruits are enamored with U-M basketball coach Juwan Howard. It’s just a fact. A lot of them play basketball, too (or have), and their parents remember the Fab Five (yes, folks … a lot of you (us) are getting older).

Howard has gone out of his way to make himself available to kids and families who want to meet him, whether it’s at football games, the basketball facilities, whatever. The football staffers have been blown away, just like the coaches of the non-revenue sports, at how much Howard loves the program and wants to help.Again, the transition from John Beilein to Howard has been more seamless than anyone could have imagined.
