Tony Cascarino believes Manchester United should replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, rather than former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Red Devils have struggled under Solskjaer and Pochettino is widely considered the favourite to step in should the club decide to sack the Norwegian.
Spurs axed the Argentine in November after a poor run of results – despite his five-year transformation of the club – making him readily available for hire.
However, talkSPORT host Cascarino argues that United should go for the man who inspired Pochettino.
Leeds manager Bielsa is on the cusp of securing a long-awaited Premier League return for the Whites.
The Argentine, nicknamed ‘El Loco’, is a cult hero in Yorkshire thanks to his high-octane philosophy and wacky personality.
“Pochettino is flavour of the month,” Cascarino told the Weekend Breakfast show. “I’d have Bielsa over Pochettino every day of the week.
“Look at what he’s changed at Leeds. Pochettino was a very good manager at Spurs. He’s done an incredible job.
“But I’m talking about style of play. Remember, Pochettino is a disciple of Bielsa and the way he plays.
“If you were looking for a manager who has played with Manchester United’s traditional aggressive, attack-minded style, Bielsa would be my first choice.”
