Penn State built one of college football’s premier recruiting classes for the 2022 cycle long before an in-season leap into top-10 territory. A rebound campaign on the field, combined with a class that features blue-chip talent across positions, has established increased optimism regarding the trajectory of these Nittany Lions under head coach James Franklin.

Collectively, this class includes 26 total members and features a couple of junior college pickups from Lackawanna. Pledges represent 11 different states and this group spent significant time atop 247Sports’ national class rankings (PSU is now listed third overall but continues to lead all Big Ten teams).

Headlined by the nation’s top overall prospects at quarterback and running back, nine different Nittany Lions commits landed inside updated Top247 recruit rankings published this week

“It’s the first overhaul to the rankings since mid-July,” noted national recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman. “Since then, we’ve welcomed the return of a normal fall high school football season, the first one since 2019. Last year, many states either didn’t play or pushed their seasons to the spring. This time around, everybody’s involved; some just got started (like Hawaii), some have already concluded (like Alaska). Everybody else is in the grind of the season.”

Here’s a full rundown of where you’ll find future Penn State players in a revised Top247, two months shy of an early national signing period…
