Here’s something you don’t see every day: a batter being called out after hitting a home run.
But that’s exactly what happened to Pittsburgh Pirates rookie third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers at PNC Park.

Hayes hit what appeared to be an opposite-field home run in the first inning off Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler.
According to the Associated Press, Hayes was running hard with his eyes tracking the ball to right field and missed the first-base bag with his left foot by two or three inches.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts challenged, and umpires overturned the call after a short video review.
“Obviously, Ke’ got caught watching the ball,” Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton said. “It’s one of those things that Ke’ thought he caught the back corner of (the bag), and he didn’t. If he even thinks he misses it, he has to go back and touch it.”
The home run would have been the third of the season for Hayes, who’s hitting .333 in seven games.
The 24-year-old Hayes, the son of former big leaguer Charlie Hayes, was not made available to reporters following the game, which the Pirates lost, 5-3.
Charlie Hayes played 14 MLB seasons, including four with the Philadelphia Phillies and three with the New York Yankees, picking up a World Series ring in 1996.
