SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU football announced that the program’s upcoming home game against the Boise State Broncos will be broadcast on ABC.
The No. 13 Cougars are slated to host the Broncos at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, October 9 at 1:30 p.m. (MDT).
Boise State vs. BYU will be televised on ABC and heard on KSL NewsRadio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM.
This is the first time in the history of the BYU-Boise State rivalry that the two teams will meet in the daytime. Typically, BYU and Boise State have always kicked off at either 7 p.m. or later, with many of those games taking place on either a Thursday or Friday night.
For BYU, this will be their first day game in 2021. Each game has kicked off at 7 p.m. or later throughout the first five weeks of the season, with the first four games kicking off at 8:15 p.m. or later.
So for those Cougar fans looking to come home from a game at a decent hour, this is a welcomed change.
The last time BYU played on a 1:30 p.m. ABC or ESPN broadcast was in 2019 when they hosted the Washington Huskies. That was the last time BYU lost a home game. BYU has since reeled off 13 consecutive home victories.
BYU and Boise State have played 11 games all-time. Boise State owns a series lead of 7-4. BYU is 3-2 against the Broncos in Provo and has won the past two meetings.
The Cougars last played the Broncos in 2020, when BYU beat Boise State in Idaho, 51-17.
BYU is currently 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 13 in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
Boise State will travel to Provo with a losing record of 2-3 this season.
