Conor McGregor’s ‘GOAT thread’ on Twitter was met with ridicule by UFC stars after he put himself at number two.
It is hardly surprising that the Irish fighter placed himself second in a greatest ever UFC fighter list, considering his usual boastful claims.
Anderson Silva was the only person who he put above himself but claimed he would be top ‘easily’ by the end of his career.
McGregor wrote: “GOAT THREAD. The array of finishes, across 2 divisions, with champion status in 1, Anderson Silva is No.1 MMA GOAT.
“My array of finishes, across 3 divisions, with champion status in 2, I’m No.2, if not tied 1.
“However still active, No.1 is fully secured by career end. And easily.”
Jon Bones Jones, who is widely regarded as one of the best MMA fighters of all time, was the first to respond.
He initially wrote: “I’m not going to debate on who is the goat, I’ll let the fans do that for me.”
The light heavyweight king then shared a list of most wins in UFC title matches, with himself at the top with 14 victories and no defeats.
McGregor does not appear anywhere near the top, owing to the few title matches he’s actually been involved with.
Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov, who have both beaten McGregor, were quick to shoot the Irish fighter down.
Diaz wrote: “Smoked the #1 p4p and double champ. Know the real goat when you see him.
“And don’t forget I did it better and quicker than anyone else on the ground and sent him down with punches quicker than Mayweather did so f*** alll y’all rankings and know a real goat when you see me.”

Khabib added: “You tapped out in featherweight, you tapped out in lightweight and you tapped in welterweight, you never defended title in the UFC or Cage Warriors, you gave up more than GSP, Spider and Bones all together.
“You [the] greatest @ufc fighter in twitter history.”
