Keith Stroud probably shouldn’t set foot in Nottingham for a while.
Forest fans will have felt very aggrieved with some of the calls the referee made during their Championship match at West Brom on Saturday.
Baggies midfielder Jake Livermore was fortunate to not be sent off for a dangerous tackle on Forest defender Yuri Ribeiro in the early stages.
Livermore even appeared to berate Ribeiro, who lay in a heap as he was treated by club medical staff.
And with the game locked at 1-1, Forest were denied a clear free-kick as Sammy Ameobi was tripped up by that man Livermore.
Moments later, Livermore fired straight at Tobias Figueiredo – the ball cannoning off his shin and going into the net.
Forest were then denied a potential penalty with Baggies defender Kyle Bartley handling inside his own box.
Ribeiro was in the wars at The Hawthorns and was felled by Matt Phillips on 74 minutes, the Albion attacker receiving a yellow card for the offence.
These kind of bookings usually prompt ironic cheers but there was also an ironic tweet by Nottingham Forest after this.
Forest tweeted: “Keith Stroud is furious as he’s forced to give a yellow card to Matt Phillips for a late challenge on Yuri Ribeiro.”
And they weren’t done there, as the club’s Twitter account laid into Stroud even further by quote tweeting a full time post from West Brom’s account.
West Brom’s tweet read: “Full-time at The Hawthorns. Late drama as Robinson has a goal very controversially disallowed, but we round off an unbeaten week with a draw.”
Forest then said: “Yeah because the ref was so biased towards us.”
Forest also retweeted a tweet by Ribeiro seemingly questioning the decision to not sent Livermore off which you can see below.
Stroud even received criticism from former Premier League referee Keith Hackett during the game.
Hackett tweeted: “Referee Keith Stroud failing to see, recognise and act on clear fouls.
“WBA fouls that should have been sanctioned. WBA break and go onto score.”
It looked like it wasn’t going to be Forest’s day with Sabri Lamouchi’s men 2-1 down going into stoppage-time.
However, a stunning strike from Matty Cash got the point Forest deserved as the game finished 2-2.
