However, it now seems as though the Ivory Coast international is holding out for a move to the Emirates to play for his boyhood club.

Unai Emery is desperate to sign the winger, telling the board to break the bank to get him.

And now Sky Sports say Arsenal have made their first move in order to land their No 1 transfer target – who Palace rate at £80m.

Zaha’s brother Judicael said: “Wilfried will always hold Crystal Palace and their fans in the highest regard and all the support they’ve given means the world to him.

“It’s my brother’s dream though to play for Arsenal.

“Given all Wilfried has given to Palace to help them remain a Premier League club, I hope Palace will be able to see their way to agreeing a deal with Arsenal that allows Wilfried to realise his dream of playing European football for the club he’s supported since childhood.”

The Eagles are reluctant to lose another academy product after selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United for £50m.

It is understood they have to give the Red Devils 25% of any transfer fee they receive for Zaha, as per the terms from his move back to south London.

Failure to qualify for the Champions League has massively cost the Gunners, who reportedly have just £45m to spend on players this summer.

Ray Parlour told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast he would sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to fund a move for Zaha.
