Eddie Hearn has clarified that they are currently waiting for Dillian Whyte’s entire anti-doping situation to be resolved before any further details can be released.
The ‘Body Snatcher’ beat Oscar Rivas on points on July 20, though it was subsequently revealed a UKAD test returned three days earlier stated that his system contained an adverse finding.
Boxing fans have since been confused over what happens next, with some believing we are currently waiting for the ‘B sample’ of Whyte’s test to come out.
When asked about this, Hearn explained to ThaBoxingVoice that this is not the current hold-up: “The UKAD rules state that until the whole hearing and everything is finalised, it’s completely confidential.
“So, in truth, I don’t know, Dillian Whyte’s dealing with that.
“Dillian Whyte had a hearing before the fight to determine whether he was allowed to fight or not. He was cleared to fight.
“Understand this, if they believed that he was cheating or he had substances in his body that were performance-enhancing, he would not have been allowed to fight on that night.
“So, you’ll have to wait until the full issued statement comes out from UKAD, it ain’t gonna be long, and you can make your own mind up.
“I believe that he will prove his innocence completely.”
Hearn previously stated that he expects Whyte to fight again this year, despite the current concern.
The promoter continued: “It’s a dealing between UKAD and Dillian Whyte. All the information that was presented at the [pre-fight] hearing, mainly the VADA tests, proved, in my opinion, his innocence to fight.
“So obviously they’ve cleared him to fight for a reason.
“Wait until you’ve got those facts, which will be released by UKAD, and you can make your own decision.”
