Leeds secured a 3-0 victory to ease their way into the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Fellow Championship side Barnsley were victims to one of the biggest shocks of the night as they crashed to a 3-0 defeat at home to League Two Carlisle.
Middlesbrough were knocked out on penalties by League Two side Crewe after clawing their way back into the tie in normal time.
Crewe claimed a 2-0 lead but Boro hit back late in the match to force the game to penalties, only for the visitors to secure a famous win on spot-kicks.
Another Championship side suffered defeat at the hands of League Two opposition as Charlton were beaten on penalties by Forest Green.
Meanwhile, there was also a win for MK Dons who beat bitter rivals AFC Wimbledon on penalties after the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.
