Mel Morris will sell Derby County, but only if he receives an offer of £60million for the Championship side.

The Rams chairman revealed he received a £50m offer for the club in the summer from an American consortium.

However, Morris told the interested party they would need to fork out an extra £10m to complete the sale after they flew into the UK for talks.

According to The Sun, the Derby fan is interested in a sale if the price is right. He courted controversy by buying the club’s stadium in order to stay within the financial boundaries put in place by the Football League.

Meanwhile, Tom Lawrence has apologised to Derby for ‘a total error of judgement’ after his drink-drive charge.

The Welshman and Rams forward Mason Bennett will appear in court in nine days following the crash on September 24 which left club captain Richard Keogh fearing for his career after a horror injury.

Lawrence, who scored in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Luton, said: “I wish to offer my sincere apologies for my indiscretions that night.

“It was a total error of judgement on my part.

“I am deeply disappointed in my behaviour.”

Lawrence and Bennett were fined six weeks’ wages by Derby, the maximum contractual limit.
