Giggs: United need three signings

Ryan Giggs believes three signings are needed for Manchester United to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League trophies.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side secured their spot in next season’s premier European competition after a final day 2-0 win at Leicester ensured they finished third in the Premier League.

Giggs admitted that Champions League football is vital to attracting big signings to Old Trafford, with the club chasing a deal for Jadon Sancho. But he thinks United still need another three ready made first team players to supplement Solskjaer’s squad, if they can compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool next season.

Asked on Premier League Productions about the importance of qualifying for the Champions League, Giggs said:

“It’s huge. Attracting players as well. Some players will choose clubs that are in the Champions League and holding on to some too. It’s just huge.

“Eventually when we get crowds back Champions League nights at Old Trafford are special.

“Ole’s beginning to mould a team which is exciting. He said there that they were running out of legs a little bit.

“After lockdown he’s played the same team more or less which he had to because they’re on such a good run so it was hard to chop and change.

“I agree they need three players I would say that can go into the starting 11 even to challenge for the league and the Champions League next year.”
