Marcus Rashford incredibly missed a penalty for Manchester United, just days after Paul Pogba was stripped of spot kick duties.

The England international inexplicably hit the inside of the post as his spot kick then rolled out harmlessly for a goal kick.

The miss came back to haunt the Red Devils, as Patrick van Aanholt’s late strike secured a precious 2-1 win for the Eagles at Old Trafford.

It comes after United had a spot kick saved by Rui Patricio at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, with Pogba taking the ball off Rashford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly hammered the players in the Molineux dressing room after the game.

But publicly, the Norwegian was composed and revealed he was not worried about the fact players were lining up to take spot kicks.

He said: “Let’s see when we get the next one. We’re practising penalties still and Marcus (Rashford) and Paul are still on them.

“It’s not that I’ve left it to the players to sort out, we’ve nominated two. It’s not like there’s anarchy and do whatever you want.

“Last season we had Marcus, Jesse (Lingard), Paul, who all scored penalties, probably more as well.

“There’s absolutely no fighting among them.

“We’re disappointed that we didn’t win the game but the talk is always more difficult when you don’t get a result.”
