Nine Gaelic football players have been hospitalised after falling off a lorry whilst celebrating a cup win.
Railings broke on the bus carrying Enniskerry GAA Junior B team as they were lauding a local victory in Enniskerry, Ireland.
Footage obtained from the shocking incident shows the players gleefully celebrating their trophy win, blissfully unaware of the pressure they are exerting on the railings.
And as the lorry accelerates forward, the players at the front of the bus lurch forward and topple over the side as the railings broke underneath their weight.
The video circulated on social media shows the players falling from the open top bus parade, with many hitting the road.
Those with injuries were rushed to Tallaght and St Vincent’s hospitals in Dublin for treatment.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, the police service for the Republic of Ireland, said: “The incident occurred in Enniskerry Village this evening at approximately 6.30pm.
“It’s understood up to nine people were injured and removed from the scene by ambulance to Tallaght and St. Vincent’s Hospitals for treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
“The road was closed for short time but has since reopened. Enquiries are ongoing.”
