Ryan Kent says he never lost hope of returning to Rangers after sealing his long-awaited move back to Ibrox.
The 22-year-old winger joined the Scottish Premiership side for a fee of £7mllion on Monday after they finally thrashed out an agreement with Liverpool.
Kent spent a successful spell on loan at Rangers last season and had been waiting for the green light to rejoin Steven Gerrard’s side all summer.
“I am delighted to be back here, it has been a quite a long summer, a lot of things could have potentially happened but I am delighted to be here,” he told Rangers TV.
“I never lost hope, there were probably moments when I thought it might not happen but I guess good things come to those who wait.
“I won’t lie it has been incredibly tough over the summer but I am a mentally strong person as it is anyway.
“I knew if I kept myself correct something good would happen soon and I have been ticking over, keeping myself to myself and this has happened now and I’m over the moon.
“I got a feel for what it was to be a Rangers player, I felt like there was unfinished business from last year and I am hoping to put that right.”
Kent impressed at Ibrox last season, making 43 appearances and scoring six goals, but he promises to be even better this term.
“After last season I have evolved even more as a player and I think now if I could add that final end product to my game then it is going to be a good season for me and for the team,” he said.
“With Steven Gerrard as manager there is a lot of ambition that comes from him, he wants to win things. Michael Beale had me as a kid at Liverpool, he got the best out of me then and that is when I really started to believe in my talent as a young boy. I flourished playing under Mick Beale.
“I think this coaching staff are obviously going in the right direction, I think the team have been excellent. Watching them has been tough but I have seen how well they have done so far this season and now I want to be back a part of it.
“The team has been strengthened incredibly well, there is a lot of strength and depth and a lot of players in a lot of different positions.
“I have been speaking with the players on a weekly basis and they have been saying the levels in training have improved and you are only going to get the best out of each other with that competition. I hoping to come straight back in and make a difference already.”
