The Hornets announced the deal on Thursday afternoon for a ‘club record fee’.

Watford did not announce the exact figure of the transfer but it is believed to be in the region of £30million.

Sarr has agreed a five-year contract with the club and is their fourth arrival this summer.

Danny Welbeck, Craig Dawson and Tom Dele-Bashiru also signed for Watford during the transfer window.

The Senegal international started out with Metz before earning a move to French side Rennes in 2017.

He went on to play 77 times for the Ligue 1 club over two seasons and scored 18 goals.
