Tottenham take on Watford in Saturday’s early Premier League match – live on talkSPORT.

Jose Mourinho’s men continue to be inconsistent as he deals with injuries through the spine of his squad and will no doubt fear visiting a Hornets side who have experienced a renaissance under new boss Nigel Pearson.

Spurs have two wins and a draw in their last six league matches but looked improved in their 1-0 loss to Liverpool.

Had it not been for two misses late on from Heung-Min Son and Giovani Lo Celso it could have easily been at least a draw as the champions-elect defended sloppily.

A victory at Vicarage Road will be vital for Tottenham if they are to have a chance of a top four finish but their injury list continues to limit their chances.

Right now, Mourinho must do without star striker Harry Kane, No.1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko, and Ben Davies.

Lloris is back in training but won’t be available for the match, while Erik Lamela has impressed on his return from injury.

These problems have seen Christian Eriksen, previously on the fringes, become a key man once more, despite some average displays.

Fans haven’t taken well to this and boos have greeted him in his last two appearances but with new signing Gedson Fernandes still getting up to speed it seems Eriksen will be a surprise starter, especially with a transfer to Inter Milan almost done.

Fernandes, signed on an 18-month loan from Benfica, should play at least a small part with Oliver Skipp not yet trusted by Mourinho, along with young striker Troy Parrott.

Meanwhile, poor form may also see Jan Vertonghen left on the bench, while Japhet Tanganga may also miss out if Spurs return to a back four.
