Gameweek 8 of this enthralling Premier League season proved to be one of the most exciting in recent memory.
Liverpool moved eight points clear at the top of the table after Wolves were able to claim all three points at the home of champions Manchester City.
Brighton and Newcastle United picked up impressive home wins over Tottenham and Manchester United respectively, while Crystal Palace and Burnley continued their strong early season form.
Although few Chelsea fans would have believed you if you said appointing a Play-Off final losing manager and getting a transfer ban may well be the best thing to happen in years, Frank Lampard’s young starlet also continued to impress at Southampton.
And everything seemed to finally click into gear for Aston Villa at Norwich City as they smashed the Canaries at Carrow Road.

Man United fan says Red Devils MUST hire Roy Keane as manager
Goalkeeper: Mathew Ryan (Brighton and Hove Albion)
Although Spurs were far from their best on Saturday afternoon, the visitors still managed to create plenty of chances.
However, time and time again they were rebuffed by the Australia international at the Amex.
His save from Lucas Moura in the second half was a particular highlight, with the Seagulls then adding a third goal shortly after to make the result all the more emphatic.
Centre-Back: Willy Boly (Wolves)
Wolves had only won once in the Premier League prior to Sunday’s clash at the Etihad and a strong defensive rearguard is always necessary at the home of the champions.
Boly scored the winner against Besiktas in the Europa League on Thursday and dominated once again in Manchester.
His physical presence at the back was vital for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to claim a famous win.
Centre-Back: Lewis Dunk (Brighton and Hove Albion)
Like Ryan, Dunk was quietly composed and decisive against Spurs. His distribution from the back and strength in his tackles was superb.
On this sort of performance, it is hard to see Gareth Southgate not recalling him to the England squad.
Centre-Back: David Luiz (Arsenal)
Although the Brazil international is prone to making errors, he is a fine player when it comes off for him.
Tasked with facing a pacy and in-form Callum Wilson, Luiz handled the England international perfectly.
He also managed to score the crucial winning goal, something Unai Emery will hope can become a regular occurrence.
Right Wing-back: Adama Traore (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
After disappointing spells at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, Traore is finally adding consistency and end product.
One of the fastest players in the division and with a La Masia education to boot, fans have waited for the winger to arrive.
Nuno’s decision to move him into a wing-back role has proved pivotal to his form and he took his goals against City extremely well.
Central Midfield: Matty Longstaff (Newcastle United)
All things considered, Longstaff had quite an eventful weekend.
The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut and scored the winner against Manchester United in front of the Gallogate End.
But his performance was not simply limited to just one goal, the midfielder also managed to control the centre of the park for the Magpies as they recovered from the 5-0 hammering at the Leicester City.
Alongside brother Sean, the younger sibling will be hoping to start every week at this rate.
Central Midfield: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)
Everything seemed to fall into place for Villa on Saturday against Championship winners Norwich City, Dean Smith’s side tore through the hapless Canaries.
While Wesley stole the show with his brace, Grealish was at the heart of everything good for his side.
His well-taken goal and composed performance in midfield is sure to have attracted the attention of Southgate – perfect timing ahead of the European Championships next summer.
Centre-Midfield: Aaron Mooy (Brighton and Hove Albion)
After suffering relegation with Huddersfield last season, Mooy may have feared his days in the Premier League were over.
But Graham Potter brought him to Brighton on loan and the Australia international has worked tirelessly for his team-mates in central midfield.
Mauricio Pochettino brought Eric Dier to steady the ship after the hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich, but Mooy ran the game and pulled his opposite number all over the park for fun.
Left Wing-back: Patrick van Aanholt (Crystal Palace)
Crystal Palace earned a fantastic comeback win against West Ham United, with the Netherlands international scoring the crucial penalty to get the Eagles back in the game.
Van Aanholt also nullified the threat of Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson superbly, largely cutting off the supply line to the dangerous Sebastien Haller.
Striker: Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)
Tammy Abraham continued his fine form at Southampton with a clinical finish to get Chelsea off the mark at St Mary’s.
Although it needed goal line technology to confirm the ball had crossed the line, his instinctive finish over Angus Gunn was superb.
He also helped set up fellow England new boy Mason Mount shortly after, showing there is more to his game than just goals.
Striker: Aaron Connolly (Brighton and Hove Albion)
Much like the aforementioned Longstaff, Connolly had a memorable weekend as his two goals helped sink Champions League finalists Tottenham on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland youth international was a thorn in the sides of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, making the latter look rather foollish for his second.
His confidence and direct play will terrify defenders and his ovation when he was substituted was richly deserved.
