Tottenham return to Premier League action on Saturday in major need of a lift as they entertain Watford in north London – a game which is LIVE on talkSPORT 2.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have won just three games in all competitions this season, and went into the international break on the back of the 7-2 humiliation against Bayern Munich and 3-0 defeat at Brighton.

The Lilywhites lie ninth in the table after eight games, already a whopping 13 points behind the leaders Liverpool.

Spurs also fell to an embarrassing Carabao Cup third round exit at the hands of Colchester last month.

Things could be worse though, something their opponents this weekend can certainly vouch for.

Watford have endured a miserable start to the 2019/20 campaign with just three points to their name so far.

They remain winless and currently have the second-worst defence in the division, conceding 20 goals in their opening eight top-flight games.

That poor run of form resulted in Javi Gracing being sacked, as the Hornets reappointed Quique Sanchez Flores as his replacement.

Their current fortunes are of stark contrast to last season, with Gracia’s men securing an 11th place finish and reaching the FA Cup final.

It doesn’t get any easy for them as they travel to north London this weekend searching for that elusive win.

talkSPORT.com runs you through the team news ahead of Saturday’s encounter, while also predicting how both sides will line-up.

Tottenham

Paulo Gazzaniga is expected to get the nod for the injured Hugo Lloris, despite the re-signing of Michel Vorm earlier this week.

Elsewhere, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon have both returned to full training, but are unlikely to be named in Pochettino’s starting XI.

Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son are both doubts after picking up knocks during the international break, with neither expected to start from the off.

Erik Lamela should get the nod in Eriksen’s absence, while Lucas Moura is expected to partner Harry Kane up top.

Watford

Flores switched to a back five against Sheffield United last time out, so he may be tempted to stick with that for the trip to Tottenham.

The Hornets will be without former Lilywhite Etienne Capoue and Sebastian Prodl for the trip to north London, as they join Troy Deeney and Isaac Success in the treatment room.
