The Reds have been near faultless in every competition they’ve played in this season – losing just one game along the way.

Napoli beat Liverpool on matchday one of this year’s competition

Interestingly, that was against the Serie A side back in September, with Jurgen Klopp’s men no doubt looking to avenge the 2-0 defeat they suffered to Carlo Ancelotti’s men in their opening match of this year’s competition.

Napoli are the only unbeaten side in the group, recording two wins and two draws thus far, but still find themselves a point behind the Premier League giants in the rankings.

Ancelotti’s side head into the game without a win in their six matches across all competitions and with just one clean sheet to their name from their last seven outings.

Klopp will be hoping to call upon Mohamed Salah for the encounter in Merseyside, after revealing the forward has looked ‘really good’ in training this week.

The Egyptian was an unused substitute for Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League win at Crystal Palace, with the club’s medical stuff carefully managing the ankle injury that previously ruled him out of international duty.

Speaking ahead of the game, Klopp said on Salah: “He looked really good in training the day before yesterday especially, after the game. It was really good.

“Yesterday we didn’t do too much, so we will see today – but I’m not worried about it.”
