Arsenal misfit Mesut Ozil is closing in on a January loan move to Fenerbahce, according to reports.
Damien Comolli, who is the Turkish club’s sporting director, is believed to have jetted to London earlier this week to discuss the deal.
Turkish newspaper Fotomac claim the Turkish giants are ‘very close’ to reaching an agreement with Ozil.
There are reportedly only a few minor issues to resolve before the deal is officially concluded.
Interestingly, Ozil’s agent, Erkut Sogut, revealed back in 2015 that Fenerbahce would be a realistic destination for his client should he depart the Emirates.
“If he were to leave then Fenerbahce would be an option. At the end of the day it is a huge club and I think Ozil would say yes to an offer if it come down to it.”
Meanwhile, Gunners favourite Mikel Arteta is set to be named as Unai Emery’s successor on Friday.
The Manchester City no.2 is due to put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract with the north London side.
Managing director Vinai Venkatesham and club lawyer Huss Fahmy were pictured leaving Arteta’s house in the early hours of Tuesday morning after holding middle of the night talks with the prospective new boss.
Discussions have since progressed well with the 37-year-old, who has a big job on his hands to turn around Arsenal’s fortunes – in what will be his first managerial post.
