Bad news for Fantasy Premier League football fanatics… Jamie Vardy is not playing for Leicester City today.
The striker has been in red-hot form for the Foxes this season and is the Premier League’s leading marksman halfway at the midway point of the season, having scored 17 goals in 18 games.
But he won’t be adding to that tally on New Year’s Day as he has been omitted from Leicester’s squad to face Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Vardy, 32, missed the 2-1 win at West Ham at the weekend to attend the birth of his daughter.
He was fully expected to return to the starting XI for the New Year’s Day clash with the Magpies.
But Brendan Rodgers did not call on his star man for his side’s opening game of 2020, with Kelechi Ịheanachọ and Ayoze Perez leading the attack, as Vardy is understood to be suffering with a minor calf problem.
Vardy is the highest scoring player on the Premier League’s popular Fantasy Football game currently so news of his absence is not likely to go down well with managers across the country!
