Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Naby Keita could be available for Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth-round clash at Shrewsbury, but says the club are awaiting the results of a scan on Sadio Mane’s possible hamstring injury.

The Senegal international limped off during the first-half of Thursday’s 2-1 win at Wolves – a result which put Liverpool 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand.

Liverpool face an anxious wait on news regarding Sadio Mane’s hamstring injury

Asked if there was any news, the Reds manager said: “No. I think in this moment he is having a scan. He didn’t call me out of the scan.”

Meanwhile, James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri will not be available for this weekend’s tie.

“For Shaq and Milly it’s too early. Naby we will have to see,” added Klopp.

“My information is that he will be part of training today. Then we have to see how he looks.

“The boys who didn’t play yesterday will be training intensely today, a very important session. We will see if he can be part of that completely, if so then he will be an option.”

Klopp also discussed other topics during his pre-Shrewsbury press conference, and you can read the best bits, below…

Team news…

“He [Adrian] will be in goal. Nothing different. Do you try to find out the lineup!?

“It’s chance for a lot of players, I haven’t decided the lineup yet. We will wait for the medical reports.

“Dejan Lovren has trained normally.”

On Takumi Minamino…

“We have to think about what we do now because he played last night more than we thought.

“It was a big step for him. To come into that game in that kind of battle and showing up not with skills but with mentality, fighting like crazy, that was a super start.

“He can play different positions. I have to see how he reacts.”

On Jordan Henderson potentially being named player of the year…

“He is in a very good moment but he has had a lot of good moments since I’ve worked with him. Hopefully it stays like this.”

On a Liverpool title win being inevitable…

“I’d never heard that word before in four-and-a-half years being here. It means it’s going to happen?

“We couldn’t care less about these things. We’re not qualified for the Champions League yet.”
