Dave Allen returned to the ring with a third-round knockout of Dorian Darch on Saturday night in Sheffield.
The popular Doncaster heavyweight had not fought since being stretchered out of the ring at the end of his defeat to David Price last July, and was happy to get back to winning ways.
The fight began with Allen taking things at his own pace.
He utilised plenty of head and upper-body movement while throwing the occasional jab – as if he was slowly feeling his way back into boxing.
Darch landed a couple of his own right hands in the second round, but the journeyman heavyweight was ultimately overmatched and this soon showed.
Allen massively upped the pace in round three, with a left hook to the head wobbling Darch straight away.
The ‘White Rhino’ then floored his opponent with a left to the body and repeated the feat soon after he arose.
Darch opted not to get up a second time.
Allen said post-fight: “The fight was what it was. I’ve gotta thank everybody in here.
“After the Price fight it would have been easy for them to give up on me. I’ve come back because I love the game.
“Whatever I’ve got is because of boxing so I can’t leave it just yet.
“I want to say a massive thank you to the BBBofC, they have the most stringent testing, they’ve made sure my safety is paramount.”
