Jurgen Klopp has warned Atletico Madrid that the Champions League tie with his Liverpool side is far from over even if the Spaniards have the advantage.
Atletico have a 1-0 lead going into the second leg thanks to Saul Niguez’s early tap-in.
Diego Simeone’s side were very pleased with the result and celebrated passionately with their fans after the final whistle.
But Liverpool have overcome much bigger deficits in their history, the Reds overturning a 3-0 deficit to beat Lionel Messi’s Barcelona in last season’s semi-finals.
And Klopp suggested Atleti are in for an almighty Anfield siege on March 11.
He told BT Sport: “It was the fight we expected, it was the atmosphere we expected but I loved so many parts of our game.
“It’s half time [of the tie] and we are 1-0 down. We don’t only play a second half, we play it in our stadium which is obviously completely different to this stadium here.
“The defended with all they had, their defending in the box was incredible. They only wanted this kind of result, 0-0 would have been OK for them.
“I don’t think I have to do it [stir up the crowd at Anfield] that much I think. I hope I can be a little bit more focused on the game.
“Our people will be ready, I know that. Welcome to Anfield, it’s not over yet.”
Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson came off during the match at the Wanda Metropolitano, however, it was only the captain who went off with an injury.
Klopp revealed how he took Mane off at half time as he felt he was being targeted by the Atletico players.
He added: “Sadio played a really good first half…they [Atletico] only wanted to make sure he got a yellow card.
“He [Henderson] felt a hamstring. I hope it was a precaution but I’m not 100 per cent sure. We have to see.”
