The Bayern Munich players and manager were furious with their own fans after they unveiled a banner directing abuse at the Hoffenheim owner.
The Bundesliga giants were thrashing Hoffenheim 6-0 away from home and were heading towards a comfortable victory.
A banner unveiled by the visiting supporters then led to the game being stopped and the home players left the pitch.
It made derogatory comments towards the Hoffenheim owner, Dietmar Hopp, calling him a ‘son of a b****’.
The referee stopped the game and the TV cameras cut to Hopp who appeared visibly upset by the banners.
The Bayern players went over to their fans pleading for them to be taken down while manager, Hansi Flick, also ran over from the dugout to try and resolve the situation.
Both sets of players were taken off the pitch in the 77th minute and the game was suspended while they tried to get the banners removed.
Club legend Oliver Kahn was also seen trying to remonstrate with the supporters but they appeared to refuse to take them down.
Bayern Munich’s supporters are unhappy with the way Hopp financed Hoffenheim and pumped money into the club to take them from the fifth tier of German football to the Bundesliga in a short space of time.
The players then returned to the pitch to play the remaining 13 minutes of the match but had decided to just run down the clock to end the game rather than playing on.
The two teams were doing keepy-ups between each other and chatting as time expired ending in bizarre fashion with Bayern taking a 6-0 win.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Jadon Sancho scored again for Borussia Dortmund as they beat SC Freiburg 1-0 at home.
Borussia Monchengladbach beat Augsburg 3-2 away from home with all five goals coming in the second half while Mainz won 2-0 against Paderborn.
Bayern are five points clear at the top of the table with second place RB Leipzig due to face Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
