The Serie A season might be over because of the coronavirus outbreak, the Italian football federation (FIGC) has admitted.
Domestic football in Italy has already been called off until April 3 with the entire country on lockdown due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus.
And now there are doubts over whether the campaign will continue, with FIGC president Francesco Ghirelli confirming the final game might’ve already been played.
“We are evaluating the idea that every league will decide autonomously what to do next,” he said after attending a summit on Tuesday.
“The idea is to finish the season by playing all the games, but we have to consider the alternative options too. Among these options are not assigning the Scudetto (league title), assigning it using the current table or organising play-offs.”

If the final table was decided using the current standings, Juventus would be crowned champions after going above Lazio by a point with a 2-0 win over Inter Milan on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Lecce, SPAL, and Brescia would be relegated as they currently comprise the bottom three.
Italy is the second-worst affected country behind China and the latest figures show 631 deaths and 10,149 confirmed cases.
