Neymar decided to poke fun at both the occasion and the opposition as PSG beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 (3-2 agg) to advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The French champions entered the last-16 second leg trailing 2-1 and they were without the backing of their own fans due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Dortmund’s teen sensation Erling Haaland scored twice in the first leg, and celebrated his second by pretending to meditate.

But Neymar quickly gave PSG the goal they desperately needed on Wednesday night with a diving header in the 28th minute.

To celebrate, he ran over to the bench before mocking Haaland’s celebration with some meditation of his own.

On the stroke of half-time, Juan Bernat Velasco put PSG in front to put the hosts in the driving seat.

To compound Dortmund’s misery, Emre Can was sent off in the dying moments as a bad tackle on Neymar sparked a scrap between the two teams.

And the entire PSG team mocked Haaland’s celebration with a team photo at the end of the match.

Covid-19 cases in France have risen beyond 2281, including 48 deaths, and large gatherings over 1,000 people have been banned.

But PSG fans defied government advice on coronavirus the spark their team needed, turning up in full force, with flags and flares, and creating a fiery atmosphere outside the Parc des Princes.

As the famous Champions League anthem rang out before the game, Neymar jokingly applauded the non-existent crowd to lighten the mood.

Kylian Mbappe, who was named on the bench, reportedly tested negative for coronavirus in the build-up after missing PSG training due to illness.
