Ally McCoist has told talkSPORT he’s glad he’s not holed up with former Rangers teammate Paul Gascoigne during this coronavirus crisis, saying it would be ‘the isolation from hell’.
All this week we’ve been asking our top guests which teammates they’d want to share the lockdown with, and who they really wouldn’t.
Among those was Wolves winger Pedro Neto, who told Laura Woods on Wednesday’s Sports Breakfast that he’d hate to be stuck with countryman Joao Moutinho.
“He’s a very good friend,” said the Portuguese ace. “But after weeks together it would be difficult – we both speak a lot and we would just fight with each other!”
Rangers legend McCoist was back on the talkSPORT airways on Thursday morning from his Glasgow home, and he was asked about his old friend Gazza.
He said his ex-teammate would be the very worst person to be in isolation with and, having been burgled by the England legend and also been woken up by his dodgy fireworks, we’ll have to take Ally’s word for it!
Breakfast host Alan Brazil asked: “Ally, can you imagine being stuck in with Gazza?”
“Ohhhhh my…” replied McCoist.
“Seriously, that would be the isolation from hell, wouldn’t it!
“I’m actually wondering how he’s coping at this time, because if there’s ever a guy who wasn’t made for isolation, it’s Paul Gascoigne.”
“Yeah, and he lives in Bournemouth – that’s one hell of a walk,” joked Brazil.
“He’s getting his steps in!”
Ally McCoist’s hilarious Paul Gascoigne ‘burglar’ story
As it happens, the England legend is not alone.
Newspapers recently snapped the former midfielder taking his dog for a walk in Manchester, where he is in lockdown with his new girlfriend, who he apparently met on holiday in Spain last month.
