UFC welterweight contender Niko Price took to Twitter to assure fans that he was alright following his gruesome eye injury.
‘Hybrid’ was stopped by the doctor during his fight with Vicente Luque after a scything left hook caused a gruesome injury around his right eye.
Despite concerns over the nasty looking injury, the 30-year-old took to Twitter to post a picture of his injury and allay fears.
The fight itself was a cracker from start to finish as both men traded powerful shots for the entirety of their three rounds in the cage.
Despite the lack of a crowd owing to COVID-91 restrictions, the excitement factor was not lacking as both men traded heavy leather.
Price had to start on the front foot in the third round, with the American fighter trailing on the scorecards, but was promptly caught by a devastating combination from Luque.
And it was the Argentine’s big left blow which sent Price sprawling to the canvas, although Price valiantly fought back with a string of elbows.
After referee Jason Herzog paused the scrap to allow the doctor to intervene and examine the extent of Price’s gory war wound, the tie was brought to an early close at the highly-anticipated showpiece.
Price was taken to hospital along with lightweight contender Tony Ferguson, who took a shellacking from Justin Gaethje in their interim title fight at the end of the night.
