Mauricio Pochettino will ‘eventually’ end up at Manchester United, according to his former Tottenham player Danny Rose.
Rose is currently on loan at Newcastle from Spurs, and recent rumours have suggested he could be reunited with Poch in the North East.
The Magpies’ prospective new owners, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, reportedly want to replace Steve Bruce with Pochettino when their proposed takeover of Newcastle finally goes through.
The PIF are working on a £300million deal to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley, and a huge rebuild is expected upon their arrival at St James’ Park with a new manager and a host of big-money signings on the cards.
The likes of Phillipe Coutinho and Kalidou Koulibaly have been linked with switches to Tyneside, while Poch has emerged as Newcastle’s top managerial target.
He has been out of work since being sacked by Spurs last November, despite being regarded as one of the finest coaches around having previously been linked with Manchester United, Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
And it appears, according to Rose, that Poch will hold out for one of those elite clubs rather than accept the Newcastle job.
Asked on the Lockdown Tactics podcast which club Pochettino will join, Rose replied: “Eventually [Manchester] United.”
In the same interview, Rose discussed just how tough life was under Pochettino.
He continued: “You’d play and then get one day off if you’re lucky and that’s it, you’re grafting for the rest of the week.
“So now I’m at Newcastle, you’re getting two or three days off a week if you win, so I’m thinking what’s going on here then? It’s a shock to the system.

“We’d only get one day off if we were lucky under Poch. Even in international breaks, he’d see the ones who would go away as having a holiday because training isn’t as hard with your national team.
“So if you weren’t in the national team you were getting beasted in training.
“You’d only get Saturday or Sunday off and then you’d get somewhere like Liverpool where they’re getting seven to 10 days off.
“We’ve been programmed a certain way in the last five or six years and going to Newcastle it’s different. I’ve missed playing for a British manager and I’m getting used to it again.”
