Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has heaped praise on Frank Lampard amid reports his ex-team-mate could become the Blues’ next manager.
The vacancy is available at Stamford Bridge after it was confirmed that Maurizio Sarri has joined Juventus.
Sarri’s assistant Gianfranco Zola is also expected to leave this summer and Chelsea legend Lampard is in contention to succeed Sarri.
Drogba has been linked with a Stamford Bridge return to work as a coach under Lampard, should the 40-year-old get the job.
And when speaking to talkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams ahead of Soccer Aid 2019, Drogba hailed Lampard’s efforts as Derby boss in what was his first season in management.
On Lampard and John Terry’s managerial credentials, Drogba said: “Those two were part of the spine of the team for more than a decade.
“They’ve given so much to the game and Chelsea Football Club.
“When you told me this was the direction he [Lampard] wants to take, I knew he would do great because he’s got all the qualities required.
“He listens, he’s a winner, he works hard, like John did. They are good guys and hard workers.”
