The Belgium captain joined Real Madrid in a deal which could be worth up to £130million with add-ons
Emerson Palmieri has revealed Eden Hazard’s sombre final message to his Chelsea team-mates before he joined Real Madrid.
After 12 long months, the Belgium captain finally got his move to the Bernabeu in a deal worth up to £130m.
Although Hazard signed off with two goals in Baku to secure the Europa League, his parting gift to his team-mates was far more heartfelt.
And Palmieri admits he couldn’t quite believe their star man was gone until he left their WhatsApp group.
He revealed there has been no activity in the group since as players began to enjoy their downtime before returning to London for pre-season.
Palmieri told ESPN Brazil : “On the WhatsApp group, the last move there was Hazard’s farewell.
“He said goodbye to the boys and such, since then, we don’t know anything else. It’s weird.
“He sent a ‘thank you, I love you guys’, and then it showed ‘Eden Hazard left the group’.
“I said damn, he really left.”
