Mason Greenwood lit things up yet again as he helped Manchester United to a comfortable 3-0 victory at Aston Villa.
The 18-year-old’s brilliant strike on the stroke of half time put the Red Devils two up after Bruno Fernandes’ penalty had given them the lead.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were superior to their relegation-threatened opponents and they got a deserved third thanks to a composed strike by Paul Pogba.
The result puts United on the cusp of the coveted top four spots as they’re just a point behind fourth-placed Leicester.
Meanwhile, Villa are getting ever closer to losing their top flight status as they’re now four points off safety with four matches to go.
Villa cut a side bereft of ideas and belief throughout the second half but that’s not how they started the game.
Jack Grealish had a great chance to test David de Gea but the Villans’ captain’s left-footed volley which sailed over the bar.
De Gea was later beaten by an effort from Trezeguet but the Spaniard was delighted to see the ball strike the post.
The visitors then took more control of the game and won a penalty after Ezri Konsa was adjudged to have fouled Fernandes in the box. The Portuguese made no mistake from twelve yards, sending Pepe Reina the wrong way as he arrowed his low effort into the corner.
And just before the break, a moment of Greenwood magic.
Some good work by Anthony Martial saw the Red Devils counter attack at a rapid rate, Greenwood received the ball in a dangerous position but passed to the Frenchman. The ball was then given back to Greenwood who unleashed a stunning right-footed strike past Reina.
United were never going to lose it but should have extended their lead with a header by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Marcus Rashford’s goal wasn’t given because Pogba was in Reina’s eyeline while stood in an offside position.
But Pogba made up for it moments later with a goal of his own. Fernandes’ quick corner to the edge of the box found Pogba, who caressed the ball beyond the onrushing defenders and into the net. It was comfortable for United from then on.
