A banner calling on Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke to go has been flown during the Gunners’ Premier League clash at Aston Villa.
The message, which read ‘Back Arteta, Kroenke Out’, also calls on the club to give manager Mikel Arteta financial backing.
Arteta has improved things at Arsenal since taking charge in December but the Gunners are still on to have their worst Premier League season in 25 years.
This demonstrates just how big a job the former Manchester City assistant has on his hands and it’s likely Arsenal will have to spend money to become a top club again.
Following their win over Liverpool last week, Arteta admitted he didn’t know if he would be able to spend money in the summer amid the economic effects of the coronavirus crisis.
However, a huge source of frustration among Arsenal fans is the club’s lack of spending compared to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea in recent years.
And a group of Gooners has decided to send a message making it clear what they feel about the owner and what needs to happen going forward.
It’s since emerged that the plane used to carry the banner was funded on Just Giving with fans raising the £1,750 needed.
And to make matters worse for Arsenal, they find themselves 1-0 down at half time of their clash against the relegation-threatened Villans.
