The Irishman has been replaced by the ex-Ivory Coast boss following reports of player unrest at Forest
Nottingham Forest have sacked Martin O’Neill after less than six months in charge and appointed former Rennes boss Sabri Lamouchi as their new manager.
O’Neill, who took charge in January, won eight of his 19 games as manager and guided the club to a respectable ninth-place finish.
However, it is understood a number of key players revolted against the Irishman, resulting in his departure.
A club statement read: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that manager Martin O’Neill has left the club.
“The club would like to thank Martin for all his efforts during his time at The City Ground and wish him well for the future.”
Moments later, the club announced the appointment of Lamouchi, the 47-year-old Frenchman.

A separate statement read: “Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce that Sabri Lamouchi has been appointed as the club’s new head coach.
“The Frenchman will be assisted at Forest by six new members of staff who will support the first team.”
O’Neill’s assistant Roy Keane left the club on Sunday and reports have suggested player unrest is behind O’Neill’s departure.
The club, who have not played in the top flight since 1999, finished eight points outside the play-off places last season.
