Bills reunite Jacob Hollister with Josh Allen: 4 things to know about new TE – syracuse.com

The Buffalo Bills found a tight end to play alongside Dawson Knox.

On Friday afternoon, the Bills agreed-to-terms with Jacob Hollister on a one-year deal. Hollister, most recently with the Seattle Seahawks, is very familiar with Buffalo’s face of the franchise and is coming off of a season in which he caught 25 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns.

Now with the Bills, here are four things to know.

Reunited with Josh Allen

Before entering the NFL, Hollister played his college ball at Wyoming from 2014-2016. For two seasons (2015-2016), he called Josh Allen a teammate. The two did not play together much in 2015, but in 2016 the duo connected quite a bit on the field and Hollister put together his best season with the Cowboys finishing with 32 receptions for 515 yards and seven touchdowns.

Allen-Hollister connection played huge role in big upset

Wyoming stunned the football world in 2016 when they knocked off No. 13 Boise State in a thrilling 30-28 win. In the game, Allen connected with Hollister six times for 144 yards and two touchdowns. The reception total and yards were career-highs for Hollister at Wyoming.

Has twin brother who also plays in NFL

Jacob Hollister went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft. So did his twin brother, Cody. It may have been a blessing in disguise as the twins were able to play alongside one another in the NFL after signing as undrafted free agents with the New England Patriots.

Both Hollisters played in New England for two seasons. Cody would go on to join the Tennessee Titans while Hollister would sign with the Seahawks.

Another downfield threat for Allen?

Buffalo’s pass happy offense may have added another weapon in Hollister based on what he showed during his time in Wyoming with Allen in 2016.

Per Pro Football Focus:

25.6 percent of Hollister’s targets in 2016 came on balls thrown at least 20 yards in the air, the fourth-highest rate among all draft-eligible tight ends. Hollister caught seven of those 11 targets for 189 yards and three touchdowns.

With opposing defenses having to worry about Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, Emmanuel Sanders and Gabriel Davis, Hollister may be able to get downfield and make big plays for the Bills.
