Snitker declined to elaborate on Newcomb being placed on the injured list which usually means that it is a COVID-19 situation. Inciarte suffered a strained left hamstring while running the bases in Friday’s win over the Cubs.
Snitker was overjoyed to deliver the news to Kazmar who has not appeared in the majors since 2008 and has been a part of the Braves’ organization for a long time. He pointed to Kazmar’s ability to play multiple positions as something that the team needs currently with just three true outfielders on the roster.
