Numbah One might be experiencing some whiplash.
Just 24 hours ago, former WFAN host Mike Francesa crushed the New York Mets, and shortstop Francisco Lindor in particular, in wake of getting swept over the weekend by the Tampa Bay Rays.
But tonight, the Mets go for a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves, and do so despite losing four players to injuries over the last two days.
So Francesa tweeted the following on Wednesday morning: “Very hard not to be impressed by the play of the Mets super subs. They have been terrific.”
Now consider what he tweeted yesterday: “Take the initial pressures of trying to impress in NY, add the pressure of the contract, the bad start and now the added pressure of attempting to compensate for an injury-riddled lineup. The result: A Lindor who doesn’t know which end is up.”

Look, there’s no denying the Mets’ injury problems (or Lindor’s struggles).
On Monday, the New York Mets placed outfielder Michael Conforto and second baseman Jeff McNeil on the 10-day injured list with hamstring injuries. Hours later they lost center fielder Kevin Pillar, who took a 95-mph fastball to the face.
Earlier in the game, right-hander Taijuan Walker exited with tightness in his left side after pitching three innings.
But things are starting to look up for the Mets. Walker’s MRI Tuesday came back clean, injured ace Jacob deGrom could return to the mound on Friday and Tommy John rehab is going well for Noah Syndergaard.
Despite the rash of injuries, the Mets (20-16) own a one-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies (22-20) in the National League East and a four-game lead over the Braves (19-23).
