One of Michigan’s top receiver targets in the 2022 class is headed to the Wolverines’ chief rival south of the state border.

Chicago St. Rita four-star Kaleb Brown announced his verbal commitment to Ohio State on Monday in a post on Twitter.

The Wolverines had long been considered the frontrunner to land the No. 63 overall prospect and No. 6 receiver in the 2022 class, but the Buckeyes reportedly made a strong impression when they got him on campus. Brown committed while on his official visit.

He joins five-star Caleb Burton and four-star Kyion Grayes as the other receivers in OSU’s 2022 class, while the position remains a top priority for Michigan. It holds pledges from Eastpointe four-star Tay’Shawn Trent and La Grange Park (Illi.) Nazareth Academy Tyler Morris this cycle but is likely to take up to four receivers. The team lost two key players in the receiver room this offseason with Giles Jackson transferring to Washington and 2021 top-100 prospect Xavier Worthy getting out of his letter of intent before enrolling.

The Wolverines are still strongly in the mix for Portland (Ore.) Westview four-star Darrius Clemons, Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville three-star Marquarius White and three-star Dillon Bell from the Kinkaid School in Houston. All three are slated to take official visits to Ann Arbor this month.

Michigan currently has seven pledges this cycle and has the No. 21-ranked class in the country, while Ohio State has 13 commits and boasts the No. 2 class.
